The Duracourt System

How a Bina Duracourt acrylic court is built — layer by layer.

Every Duracourt court is a complete coating system, not a single coat of paint. From the cured substrate to the final line-marking, each layer does a job — adhesion, levelling, colour, texture and wear. Here is exactly what goes onto your court, with the manufacturer specs.

The Build-Up

The Duracourt court system, layer by layer

A complete coating system, not a single coat. The build-up depends on your base — here are the two typical systems.

Bina Duracourt layer build-up over a concrete base
Over a concrete base
  • 2 layers Duracourt Colour
  • 2 layers Duracourt Mastic
  • 1 layer Duracourt BE3100 – Bitumen Emulsion
  • Concrete base
Bina Duracourt layer build-up over a premix (asphalt) base
Over a premix (asphalt) base
  • 2 layers Duracourt Colour
  • 2 layers Duracourt Mastic
  • 50mm premix base
  • 150mm crusher run
  • 50mm sand blinding

Every court is finished with line-marking to the federation standard for your sport. Cushioned (Pro) systems add resilient build coats for extra shock absorption — ask for the cushioned specification.

Stage 1 — Get the Base Right

Surface preparation

The system is only as good as what it sits on. Preparation differs by substrate.

28days

New Concrete

Allow new concrete to cure at least 28 days. Surface must be clean, dry, degreased and free of curing compounds before coating.

Asphalt

Bitumen / Asphalt

Duracourt has excellent adhesion to bitumen. Allow new asphalt to cure, then clean and repair before priming.

1%

Fall for Drainage

Outdoor courts need a planar 1% slope so water sheds. Ponding is repaired and levelled before the colour coats go on.

Why the System Matters

Built to perform in Malaysian conditions

Non-skid & non-reflective

A controlled matt texture gives players grip and removes glare — the same surface for safety and playability.

UV & ponding resistant

Formulated to resist UV and standing water (48 hr ponding) — important for open-air courts in our climate.

Fungus & weather resistant

Excellent resistance to fungus growth and weathering keeps the surface clean and true season after season.

Strong adhesion

Bonds to concrete, bitumen and steel surfaces — so the system stays locked down and doesn’t lift.

No fire hazard

Water-based, so it can be applied in indoor halls where solvent-based coatings are not allowed.

SIRIM eco-label

Low-VOC, ammonia-free formulation — certified for green building and institutional projects.

Choose Your Build

Standard vs Cushioned

Standard Duracourt

Duracourt BE3100 – Bitumen Emulsion → 2 layers Duracourt Mastic → 2 layers Duracourt Colour → line marking (over premix, the emulsion is replaced by the asphalt base). The workhorse system for schools, community, futsal, badminton and multipurpose courts.

Two Kinds of Work

Build new or resurface

Whether you’re starting from the ground up or refreshing a tired court, Bina Duracourt does both.

Build a New Court

Full construction from base preparation — crusher run, premix or concrete — through the Duracourt mastic and colour coats to the final line marking.

Quote a new court

Resurface an Existing Court

Clean, crack-repair and re-coat a worn or faded court with a fresh Duracourt system — restoring colour and grip without a full rebuild.

Court System FAQ

Common questions

How long before a new concrete court can be coated?

Allow new concrete to cure for at least 28 days before applying the Duracourt system. New asphalt should also be allowed to cure. Coating too early risks premature failure from trapped moisture.

How many layers make up a Duracourt court?

Over a concrete base: 1 layer of Duracourt BE3100 – Bitumen Emulsion, 2 layers of Duracourt Mastic, then 2 layers of Duracourt Colour, finished with line marking. Over a premix (asphalt) base: 2 layers of Mastic and 2 layers of Colour over the prepared premix. Cushioned courts add resilient build coats in between.

What colours are available?

Duracourt is supplied in Green, Red, Blue and White — the standard court palette. Typical combinations are a coloured in-bounds and out-of-bounds with white lines. See the Sports Court page for examples.

Can it be applied indoors?

Yes. Duracourt is water-based with no fire hazard, so it can be used in indoor halls where solvent-based coatings are not permitted — and outdoors, where it resists UV and ponding water.

How is it applied?

By roller, brush or rubber squeegee. For squeegee application it can be mixed with aggregate and clean water. On hot, sun-heated surfaces it may be thinned 1 part water to 4 parts Duracourt by volume.

How much coating does my court need?

Duracourt is applied at roughly 0.2–0.4 litre per m² across two coats. Tell us your court size and sport and we’ll work out the materials and quote the full design-supply-install package.

Want this system specified for your court?

Send us your sport, court size and site condition. We’ll recommend the right Duracourt build-up and quote design, supply and application in one package.
